I think I been through enough people telling me that “I’m Asian so I’m smart”. This stereotype has been with us for so long that we have been ignored. Because we are better well off than other minorities we do not need the help. I am not the “model minority” nor do I want to be assume I’m smart because I’m Asian. I want to be validated because my actions and my voice speaks so. If we fail to lift this stereotype, we fail to see those in needs.

All my life I’ve been struggling with the model minority myth and well, the unrealistic pressures society doles out to Asian Americans. And I’m terrified that the model minority myth is going to impact my college applications.
yeah. “you’re asian so you’re supposed to be good at math!” no just stop ugh. i hate having those expectations set for you even when people don’t even know you.
If I did well on something, “it’s just cause you’re Asian”.
No, don’t invalidate my personal accomplishments because it’s “expected” of me to do well. It shouldn’t be expected that Asians do better in class. At the end of the day, there are people like me who aren’t very good at math and it kind of sucks when even your teachers will have higher expectations for you to do well than the rest of the class.
