Reblogging for that comment. No one really cares about eyelids except Asians, especially southeast/east Asian women. A lot of non-Asians don’t even know what monolids/double-lids are. I don’t know, the idea of eyelid modification does make me uncomfortable and Asian beauty standards are fucked up, but is it really any more fucked up than any other culture’s beauty standards? This really should be something that is discussed within the Asian community and it makes me more uncomfortable that white people feel the need to chastise her for “denying her heritage”. looool I made the mistake of reading the comments on the actual video and ugh. I understand why she made the video and why some people would watch it, because I have uneven eyelids too (one monolid, one double-lid, hollaa) and even though I’m aware that most people don’t notice, it’s something I’m really insecure about.
Idk like maybe some people deny their heritage because they feel like it alienates them or gets them treated differently or because of the pressures of fitting into a society that wants everyone to look a certain way and maybe you don’t get it cause you already do
